Ruffed Lemur (Vari): The Vibrant Forest Ambassador

Ruffed lemurs, or varis, are among the most striking species of lemurs, known for their thick, fluffy coats of black-and-white or reddish-brown fur. Native to Madagascar’s rainforests, these primates are incredible climbers and spend much of their time in the treetops, foraging for fruits, flowers, and nectar.

Unlike many other lemurs, ruffed lemurs are highly vocal, using a range of calls to communicate with their group and warn of potential threats. However, habitat destruction has put them in danger, making them a priority for conservation efforts. By protecting ruffed lemurs, we also preserve the rich diversity of Madagascar’s rainforests.
